How Search Trends Are Changing SEO

When it comes to SEO, you don’t want to be late to the party. In order to capture customers and leads, you must stay one step ahead of your competition.

The main factor driving SEO changes is search trends. Google and other search engines are making changes to their algorithms and results pages to feed the demands of their users. If you do not have a website designed for these changes, you will be left behind.

Today, SEO is a lot more than meta tags and back links. Your website must be authoritative and relevant. Moreover, it must be usable and readable, both to the search engines and your visitors. It is essential to understand user intent, what information people are looking for, and how they are consuming it.

Here are some things to focus on:

1. Mobile Search

It is almost surprising that this needs stating. However, there are still companies that are not mobile-friendly. Regardless, today, more search requests are coming from smartphones than any other device. In fact, Google is starting to favor website’s optimised for mobile in their results.

2. Substantive Content

Users are sick and tired of the same rewritten content. However, the dominance of smartphones means comprehensive, long-form content won’t necessarily get read. This means you should work at providing as much useful information in as few words as possible.

3. Machine Learning

It is the dawn of the machines. Search engines are starting to understand user intent, read and understand the content, and predict what users will want to engage with. Successful SEO will require content that meets the needs of users.

4. User Experience

You may have a spectacular and amazing looking website. But, if users have trouble navigating and discovering the information they need, it can affect your ranking. Google is favoring websites with designs that are optimized for user experience. This included being mobile-friendly, fast loading, easy navigation, and unobtrusive elements.

5. Voice Search

This is not just coming from mobile devices. With all the home automation systems, like Amazon Echo and Google Home, voice recognition is becoming much more common in computer technology. Following this trend closely is essential for future SEO success.
